You don't need to own a horse to learn to ride. BHP has beginner-friendly lesson horses, so first-time riders and kids can focus on learning instead of worrying about equipment or ownership.
Already have a horse? Bring them along. Lessons with your own horse work directly on the challenges and goals that matter to your horse-and-rider team, from basic control to barrel and pole patterns.

No. BHP has beginner-friendly lesson horses available. You can also bring your own horse.

Yes. Complete beginners are welcome. First lessons focus on horse safety and the fundamentals, at a pace that fits the rider.
What ages do you teach?
BHP offers lessons for riders of all ages, with participation based on the rider's ability to safely take part.
Do you teach adults?
Yes. Adults are welcome at any experience level, whether you are brand new to horses or coming back to riding after years away.
Do you teach barrels and poles?
Yes. BHP offers barrel racing and pole bending instruction from learning the pattern through competition preparation.
Can I bring my own horse?
Yes. Lessons can focus on horsemanship, general riding, barrels, poles and performance work with your own horse.
Where are lessons held?
At our property in Roy, Washington or at a local arena depending on the lesson and rider. BHP welcomes riders from Yelm, Graham, Spanaway, Eatonville, McKenna, Tacoma, Puyallup and nearby communities.
